Women Rockin' Pamirs Treks in solidarity
How treks are organized
In 2018 Women Rockin’ Pamirs begins offering treks guided by women, for mixed-gender groups or for groups of women only.
Treks in solidarity
After training young Pamiri women as mountain guides, organizing treks to discover the Pamir region was a natural next step, allowing the training program to be sustainable and strengthening the financial independence of the interns and mountains guides who have benefited from the training.
A portion of proceeds from the treks sold by our partners is donated for the administrative costs of the Women Rockin’ Pamirs organization and for running the trainings.
The treks are also an opportunity to train Tajik interns in the field by working as co-guide with an international professional on the treks.
Ultimately, the Pamiri guides will take over full responsibility for accompanying treks (with the exception of co-guided treks) once they are fully trained and independent.
The remuneration of international and Pamiri guides is decided through transparent dialogue with all members of the organization, according to the logic of fair distribution of financial resources and solidarity with the local population.
Guides are chosen carefully. They have previously practiced the trek itinerary and are very familiar with the region.
Characteristics of the treks
We offer treks on fixed dates in order to allow us to establish work schedules at the beginning of the season.
We strive to have guides available for tailor-made treks. However the earlier we are contacted with a request the more likely we will be able to respond favorably.
The treks offered follow rarely-traveled itineraries, often at high altitudes.
When making your choice, do not chose a trek that is above your physical capabilities and alert your guide about any former cases of altitude sickness. We are here to answer your questions and to help you choose the trek that best fulfills your expectations!
