I hold a Master’s degree in Agricultural Development and have worked for 10 years in post-Soviet countries (Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Moldova). I have been supporting agricultural development and adaptation projects in Tajikistan for 8 years. I love hiking in the mountains, and outside of my professional activities, I wrote a trekking guide for Tajikistan, with my co-author Jan Bakker (Trekking in Tajikistan, Cicerone).

One thing led to another, and thanks to key meetings with Tajik women, this training project for women’s mountain trades cropped up. For me, it is essential to share my passion for the isolated massifs of Tajikistan to benefit the professional and economic development of local populations, and in particular of the women. They have such potential and an overwhelming desire to learn!
