Participant profiles WRIP trainees who have already completed 2 years of instruction, other women who have already completed several-day independent treks and who are highly motivated
Objectives :
- initiating mountain guides to glacier crossing
- teach the basics of mountaineering techniques to future mountain guides
- acquire the necessary safety reflexes in alpine and glacial terrains
- climb an easy summit in snow
- become aware of climate change and the role of glaciers
Activities :
- discovery and use of technical equipment on glaciers (crampons, ice ax, rope, harness…)
- roping and progression on glacier
- notions of crevasse rescue
- basics of glaciology and landscape reading
- climate change mechanisms and impact on glaciers
- review of trek organizing and working with pack animals
- orienteering
